MedCAD Helps Fund “Becoming Whole” Benefit Supporting Ukraine Medical Missions
On a recent August evening, MedCAD was proud to serve as a sponsor of “Becoming Whole,” a benefit raising funds for medical missions to Ukraine. The event was hosted by three nonprofit organizations dedicated to Ukraine medical relief, and took place at The Star — the headquarters and practice facility of the Dallas Cowboys — at the invitation of Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys organization. The evening honored surgeon Dr. James Suen, a renowned head-and-neck surgeon who has been on five missions to Ukraine.
During the event, plastic surgeon Dr. Steve Orten, who has participated in 11 medical missions to Ukraine, and MedCAD founder and CEO Nancy Hairston participated in a panel discussion that offered guests a look at the surgical and logistical work involved in healing wounded soldiers and civilians. This is work MedCAD directly supports by donating custom-designed facial implants and surgical planning support for reconstructive cases arising from the war.

The evening’s most talked-about arrival belonged to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who touched down on the Cowboys’ practice field by helicopter, and then made an airlift-sized gesture. Shortly after landing, Jerry and Gene Jones announced a $1 million donation to the cause, drawing a standing ovation from the room.

The program closed on a beautifully emotional note, with a violin performance by a young Ukrainian soldier who lost an eye in the war and was treated as a patient on a previous medical mission. Her performance was a quiet, powerful reminder of the human beings behind every reconstructive case — and of why this work matters.

MedCAD is honored to stand alongside the surgeons, nonprofits, and donors making these missions possible, and to play a small part in restoring humanity one patient at a time.
