Care Without Borders: A Sutter Health Surgeon and MedCAD Rebuild Lives in Ukraine

A recent feature published by Vitals, the news outlet of Sutter Health, highlights a humanitarian Ukraine surgical mission where head and neck surgeon Dr. Patrick Carpenter traveled overseas to help patients suffering from devastating war injuries. Partnering with Ukrainian surgeons through the “Vision for Ukraine” initiative, Dr. Carpenter and a team of U.S. specialists performed complex facial reconstruction procedures for military and civilian patients who had suffered devastating injuries.

MedCAD was honored to support the mission by donating virtual surgical planning and patient-specific 3D-printed implant designs, enabling surgeons to treat dozens of patients with highly personalized reconstructive solutions. Working in challenging conditions, the team used these tools to restore critical facial structures and improve quality of life for patients with severe trauma. The collaboration highlights the power of global surgical partnerships and advanced planning technologies in expanding access to life-changing care.
